Samsung Show i7410 projector-phone

the Samsung Show i7410 is a mobile phone that packs a tiny projector capable of throwing out an image of up to 50 inches! As a smartphone, it’s fairly standard - it runs Windows Mobile and Mobile Office - but that’s not why you invite the i7410 to the party. You invite it for that canny Texas Instruments DLP Pico projector embedded in the top!

It’s perfect for gaming movies or your shameful daytime soap habit and a must-have for businessmen who can give their favourite PowerPoint presentations in extreme detail, without having to lug around a full-sized projector! That’ll really bring those flow graphs to life.

The Show also has a touchscreen interface with a “flick” gesture, plus the bright LED lamp required for the projector, means it can also be substituted for a pretty handy torch.

World's Second Android Phone - HTC Magic - Pics and Video

Despite all the hoopla surrounding Google's Android open-source operating system for smartphones, so far only one phone is available to date that actually runs the Android OS--the HTC Dream (also knon as the T-Mobile G1). The HTC Dream is finally going to get some company in the form of only the second official Android phone to be announced--also from HTC--the HTC Magic.

The HTC Magic will start shipping in "the spring," and it will initially only be available in Europe. European mobile phone service provider, Vodafone, snagged the initial exclusive rights to sell the HTC Magic in the U.K., Spain, Germany, and France (via SFR, which is co-owned by Vivendi and Vodafone). Vodafone claims that the HTC Magic will be "available from free on various price plans." The only place the HTC Dream will initially be available where it will not tied exclusively to a contract with Vodafone, will be in Italy. HTC promises that the HTC Magic will be available in more countries at a later date, presumably including the U.S.

T-Mobile's Android-based G1 goes on sale

The first cell-phone based on Google Inc.'s Android platform went on sale Tuesday evening in San Francisco ahead of the start of sales across the U.S. today.

T-Mobile USA began offering the G1, made by Taiwan's High-Tech Computer (HTC), at its store on the city's Market Street at 6 p.m. The launch attracted a queue of about 150 people and was headed by Christopher Laddish, a student who had been waiting since 8 a.m. to buy the phone.

"I was sold on it without even having to pick it up," said Laddish, who was wearing a T-shirt given to him by T-Mobile that read "I was the first to get it." He said his current plan with Verizon Wireless was up for renewal on Tuesday and after shopping around he settled on the G1 because he liked products from both Google and HTC.

After a brief countdown as the clock approached 6 p.m. customers were allowed into the store to buy the phone. A few minutes later Laddish, with a large smile on his face, was surrounded by photographers and TV cameras who were there to document the start of sales.

The G1 costs $180 with a two-year service agreement and mail-in rebate. The phone without a service plan costs $400.

It has a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that slides away from the main body of the phone to expose a QWERTY keyboard. That puts it into competition with other smart phones like the Blackberry and Apple Inc.'s popular iPhone.

"I've been reading a lot about the phone for the last couple of weeks and I'm not really a big fan of the iPhone touch screen," said Chijioke Amah, who was also queuing up to buy the G1. "That's probably what made me not that interested in the iPhone. When I heard T-Mobile was going to have the Google phone with a keyboard, that's what got my attention."

Amah, who confessed to being a Mac user, said he isn't sold on the idea of typing on a touch screen and so decided the G1 would be a better choice than the iPhone as he switches from his current Blackberry.

Nokia Tube Xpress 5800 Launched + Video

Could this be the first genuine contender to the Apple iPhone's touchscreen crown?

The ink's not dry on your Nokia N96 contract yet, but the Finnish favourite has thrown another hellacious handset into the mix. Its first ever touchscreen offering!

As expected, Nokia has officially announced the 5800 Express Music phone we've come to know as the Tube.

Hot details include a 3.2" full touchscreen it's calling "the best mobile screen of all time."

Interestingly there's four differing input methods to suit all the horses and all the courses. A full-screen qwerty keyboard, handwriting recognition, a traditional phone keypad on the screen and a plectrum (it is a music phone, after all).

There's a 3.2-megapixel dual flash camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, and 8GB of storage for your music that Nokia hopes you'll be picking up from the new Comes With Music service. They've also packed in some pretty powerful speakers too and we'll have more on that once we've had a hands-on.

One of the key innovations allows you to store your four favourite contacts, complete with photos, on the home screen storing your entire history with that person. Messages, emails and calls exchanged as well as Facebook status updates through the RSS feed. Neato.

Speaking of the internet, the 5800 is fully compatible with Flash meaning you'll be able to browse "the whole internet". A not-so-sly dig at its biggest rival, the iPhone.

Perhaps the biggest positive is the price. You'll be able to grab this phone now for just 279 Euros on pay-as-you-go. About half the price of the iPhone. Sweet.

Specifications include:

  • Quad-band GSM with different versions supporting UMTS/HSDPA in various regions of the world
  • 3.2 inch, nHD 640×360 resolution touch screen display
  • 802.11 b/g WiFi
  • Integrated GPS receiver

Nokia New E-series E72 and E75

Nokia E75 and E72. The E72 has a silde-out QWERTY keypad while maintaining some semblance to the already available E71 and the E75 has a QWERTY keypad below the display. Everything about the video looks real as far as we can say and both the E75 and E72 seem like great devices. From the video, we could say that apart from the QWERTY keypad, both the cell phones have WiFi, GPS, an accelerometer, and may be even HSDPA support, running as usual on Symbian OS.
