Latest Technology in Computer Hardware
By Candis Reade

Article Word Count: 454 [View Summary] Comments (0)

The rate at which new computer hardware products are arriving in the market is simply mind-boggling. As the technology advances, the size and the price of the devices come down, while the efficiency and capacity increase. The scenario is same in all cases, whether it is about internal components like processor, motherboard, RAM, graphics card, and hard disk or for peripheral accessories like mouse, keyboard, and monitors. Personal computers became popular only before about three decades back. But already there are huge piles of outdated and antique hardware components and devices. This is a tribute to the tremendous rate of development of latest technologies in computer hardware field. Perhaps, the newest entrant into the archeological catalogue of computer peripherals is CRT monitors. The sleek looking LCD monitors are spreading like computer virus.

Data storage devices have attracted considerable attention of the technology developers. New kinds of storage devices such as newer versions of flash memory cards, hard disks using latest technology and disks of ever-increasing capacity are the results of advancement in latest technology in compute hardware. The memory size of the random access memory (RAM) cards is soaring to enable the smooth functioning of graphics animation software packages and streaming video websites. Also, computer motherboards have undergone substantial changes over the years. More and more functions are being added to the motherboard. Also, despite the incredible improvement in performance and functionalities, the price of these components has actually fallen steadily.

The most vital component of a computer is the microprocessor. It is in this field that a battle of developing latest technologies in computer hardware takes place. The pace of development of microprocessor increases as the competition between the major processor chip manufacturing companies, Intel and AMD, intensifies. Both the companies are engaging in a neck and neck competition and continuously outdo each other in introducing new technologies.

In the field of computer peripherals, the latest technology in computer hardware is in developing yet another version of wireless mouse and keyboard. The concept of wireless mouse and keyboard is about a decade old. But the development of these items is still a work in progress. The latest products of wireless mouse and keyboard are said to be highly durable and error free.

Some of the developments in the latest technology in computer hardware are gearing up for changing the present concept of desktop and laptop computers. With new developments making possible the convergence of mobile phone technology and computers, a new breed of fully functional palm-top computers are going to be introduced in near future. With touch screen monitors and without the need for a mouse, these gadgets are likely to become the next big leap in the constantly leaping technological development field.

Candis Reade is an accomplished niche website developer and author. To learn more about Technology in Computer Hardware, please visit Electronics Hardware for current articles and discussions.

November 26, 2008
Batman RIP‘ will see “the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman“, according to Grant Morrison. There are rumours that Batman will suffer a gruesome end when his sidekick Robin goes over to “the dark side” and destroys him in a terrible betrayal. Batman, alter ego of Bruce Wayne a wealthy industrialist, operates in the American Gotham City. Others speculate that Wayne may either retire from his duties or be killed by a mystery villain known as the Black Glove.
Grant Morrison a Scottish writer, that has written storylines for comics including X-Men for Marvel and Superman for DC Comics, and took over writing the Batman series for DC in 2006, told Comic Book Resources: His fate will be revealed in the latest issue of DC Comic’s Batman, published on 26 November.

Microsoft To Help 2 Million Americans Gain Technical Skills

Microsoft To Help 2 Million Americans Gain Technical Skills

As part of its Elevate America programme, Microsoft will be offering free certification and other technical training to Americans, starting with Washington state.

EFY News Network (346)

Monday, February 23, 2009: Microsoft has announced a new initiative called Elevate America, which will provide up to two million people over the next three years with the technology training needed to succeed in the 21st-century economy. Elevate America has two main offerings, one available immediately and one that will be provided in partnership with state governments including those of Florida, New York and Washington.

A new online resource is available today. This new website helps individuals understand what types of technical skills they need for the jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities of today and tomorrow, and resources to help acquire these skills. The website provides access to several Microsoft online training programmes, including how to use the Internet, send e-mail and create a résumé, as well as more advanced programmes on using specific Microsoft applications.

In order to provide a broader range of training programmes and certification exams, Microsoft will also partner with state and local governments, which in turn will make these resources available to their citizens. Pamela Passman, corporate vice president, Microsoft Global Corporate Affairs, announced that Florida, New York and Washington will be the first states to provide Elevate America to their residents.

Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire says that programmes such as Elevate America are critical to providing support to Washington families and helping the economy recover.

“At the federal, state and local level, leaders are working together to help start the engine of economic growth. The private sector provides much of the spark needed to jump-start that engine,” Gregoire said. “Elevate America is a great example of Microsoft’s leadership on education and work force development — issues that bring us a step closer to recovery by helping us provide critically important help to our citizens. Washington state is pleased to be one of the first states to partner with Microsoft to provide Elevate America to our residents.”

“Millions of Americans don’t have the technology skills needed in today’s economy. Through Elevate America, we want to help workers get the skills they need to succeed,” Passman said. “We are also providing a full range of work force development resources for state and local governments so they can offer specialised training for their workers.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more people than ever are pursuing Microsoft technical certifications. As part of the Elevate America effort, Microsoft is providing one million Microsoft Learning vouchers for free access to Microsoft eLearning courses and select certification exams.

This offering also includes: expanded access to basic technology literacy and skills training; basic-level information technology training resources through Microsoft Unlimited Potential and Digital Literacy curricula; intermediate technology skills training courses, online and instructor-led, plus selected certification exams; vouchers for eLearning course collections offered by Microsoft; vouchers for certification exams leading to Microsoft business certification; grants of cash and software to community partners to build in-classroom training capacity; discounted membership rates for institutions participating in the Microsoft IT Academy programme; access to a new Web portal that will help guide individuals to training and resources that position them for success in the economy today, and tomorrow.
